September 21-23, Siracusa

Organizers: Martial Hebert, Jean Ponce, Cordelia Schmid, Andrew Zisserman

Following up on the success of two earlier meeting on object recognition held in Taormina in 2003 and 2004, this workshop will focus on the current frontiers of category-level object recognition, including:

o Open challenges: nonrigid shape, texture vs shape, viewpoint and illumination effects.
o New focuses: localization, recognition within a class, scene understanding.
o Recognition in context: applications, datasets.

The workshop is sponsored in part by INRIA, the PASCAL European Network of Excellence, Intel, Microsoft, and Toyota.

Coming up soon! A selection of contributions from the 2003 and 2004 workshops will soon be published as "Toward Category-Level Object Recognition", J. Ponce, M. Hebert, C. Schmid, and A. Zisserman (eds.), Springer-Verlag LNCS, 2006.

Anne Pasteur is responsible for the logistics.
